EU Marketing Director Hire

The Brief

Our client is a leading apparel brand owed by a multinational retail group. We were brought on board to source an experienced Marketing Director to develop and implement effective marketing strategies across the entire EU market - 14 in total and potentially more as they grow.

The Process

We were working to an incredibly tight brief for this hire so shaping the search came with multiple considerations.

First and foremost, the role was about capturing the essence of the brand and executing their vision across their European markets. Therefore experience in overseeing multiple teams across either the EMEA or Europe region was a fundamental requirement. Striking the right balance in seniority was also important, as they were looking for talent with no more or less than 10-15 years of experience. They needed to have managed a substantial team and been responsible for budgets of over 30 million.

The philosophy and culture of the business was also a crucial thread running through this process. Understanding that the brand is not trend-led but product-led within its sector was key to communicate to the potential talent.

With these elements considered, our strategy became centred in mapping out businesses that were cohesive with the brand’s philosophy and operational structure. Examples of such businesses were Ikea, Lego and Unilever.

The Results

The client hired a global marketeer with 15 years experience in the industry and a demonstrated history of working in lifestyle, sporting goods and fashion brands.
